OptTek Systems, Inc., was awarded a subcontract to The Aegis Technologies Group to conduct systems engineering: needs identification, requirements documentation generation, and system level analysis and design, to identify novel solutions to address Modeling and Simulation (M&S) needs for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).

Simulation models are available to formulate and analyze a wide variety of military, government, and commercial problems. OptTek will continue to develop its optimization and analysis toolkit, OptDef, to provide MDA a capability to optimize Ballistic Missile Defense systems—a capability that will enable MDA to answer credibly not only ―what if?, but also ―what’s best? and ―why this and not that?

The OptDef technology is enhancing MDA’s current suite of modeling and simulation frameworks. OptDef builds on proven OptTek-proprietary technologies in simulation optimization that leverages MDA’s investment in BMDS-level performance tools and seamlessly integrates with MDA simulation systems without modifying or affecting the simulation systems in any way. The total value of the subcontract award is $282,000.

About The Missile Defense Agency

The Missile Defense Agency’s mission is to develop and field an integrated, layered, ballistic missile defense system to defend the United States, its deployed forces, allies, and friends against all ranges of enemy ballistic missiles in all phases of flight. MDA funds technology research and development projects at small and large businesses, universities, and Federal laboratories. These projects advance MDA’s future capabilities for the ballistic missile defense system to protect our Nation, allies, friends, and troops from ballistic missile attacks.
