public class COptQuestBetaRandomVariable
extends COptQuestUserControlledVariable

A random variable with a beta distribution. Its value is from 0 to 1, such as a proportion. Use the two shape parameters alpha and beta, both greater than 0, to set where the values collect:

• With alpha = beta = 1, every value from 0 to 1 is equally likely.
• With alpha and beta both greater than 1, the values collect around one peak.
• With alpha or beta less than 1, the values collect near 0, near 1, or near both.

The mean is alpha / (alpha + beta).

The engine draws a new value at the start of every replication. The probability distribution is COptQuestBetaDistribution.

name - the name/identifier of this random variable (used for reporting, logging, or display purposes)

alpha - the first shape parameter (α > 0)

beta - the second shape parameter (β > 0)
