Class COptQuestSphericalElevationRandomVariable

public class COptQuestSphericalElevationRandomVariable extends COptQuestUserControlledVariable
A random variable whose value is an elevation angle in degrees, drawn uniformly by surface area from the band of the unit sphere between the elevations min and max. Uniform by surface area, rather than uniform by angle, means that values near the horizon are more likely than values near the poles. This is the elevation of a random pointing direction on a band of the sphere. An elevation of -90 is straight down, 0 is the horizon and +90 is straight up. The bounds must be within [-90, 90], and max must be greater than min. The constructor that takes only a name uses the full range.

The probability density is proportional to the cosine of the elevation, scaled so that the total probability from min to max is 1.

The engine draws a new value at the start of every replication. The probability distribution is COptQuestSphericalElevationDistribution.
