OptTek is seeking a senior scientific analyst/developer with great technical skills and strong experience in creating tools and performing analysis related to mathematical, statistical, AI/ML, simulation, and analytical applications. The position requires a highly motivated, detail-oriented professional capable of both independent and small team performance on a variety of algorithm, optimization, simulation, and software related tasks. The position will be mainly focused on supporting our Missile Defense Agency (MDA) customer with 3-4 days a week onsite at the customer facility in Colorado Springs, CO working in a team environment. OptTek engages in a variety of commercial and government work, and the role will include a combination of projects for various customers over time.

Qualifications
Essential requirements include:
- U.S. citizenship and at least a Secret DoD security clearance
- An M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Operations Research, Mathematics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or another technical or scientific field
- The ability to understand customer challenges and requirements, develop creative and efficient approaches to model and analyze problems, and design and implement algorithmic and software solutions to solve them
- Five or more years of professional experience developing algorithms and models in Java, Python, or a related object-oriented language
- The ability to design and validate robust algorithms and the flexibility to adapt to changing customer requirements and problem definitions
- Experience working in a collaborative environment and the ability to document and convey algorithm designs and optimization formulations to others
- Experience solving problems using metaheuristics, mathematical programming, and AI/ML including supervised, unsupervised, and/or reinforcement learning
- Experience with constructive modeling and simulation
- The ability to interact with customers, identify opportunities for new business, and seek strategic partnerships
Expertise in any of the following areas is a plus:
- AFSIM, PyTorch/TensorFlow/JAX, scikit-learn, real-time optimization, integrating AI/ML with modeling and simulation tools or other simulation tools and libraries for modeling and data analysis

Our target starting range is $135,000 – $200,000 plus eligibility for an annual bonus. Actual compensation and title will be commensurate with experience and skills. Applications will be accepted until March 15, 2026, or the position is filled.
